Shih-Wei Chen holds a master's degree from the National Taiwan University of Arts, now she curates and coordinates art exhibitions and cultural exchange projects between Taiwan and international communities. As a member of the artist collectives "OCAC (Open Contemporary Art Center)" and "P.M.S.," she focuses on Taiwan, Asia, and Southeast Asia. In her practice, she engages in long-term, fieldwork-based art projects and values collective collaboration and the agency of each participant in the curatorial process. Her recent work focuses on facilitating ongoing dialogues and collaborations among individuals and groups, seeking to transform power dynamics in knowledge production while reshaping social interactions and relationships. Additionally, it is her longer-term ambition to weave a network of relationships that transcends boundaries of conventional knowledge and experience, fostering possibilities and imaginative spaces for collaborative creation.
Previously, she served at the MoNTUE Museum in Taiwan, where she was responsible for the Global Art Open-Call Program. Currently, she continues to collaborate with various artists and groups. Her collaborative partners have included Taiwanese artist Michael Lin, Japanese art collectives Tra-Travel- Osaka Art Hub and FIGYA, Vietnamese art collective and space Nha San Collective, Á Space, and ba-bau AIR, Mexico's Museo de la Ciudad, and the new media art collective deriveLab, among others. Recently, she has also joined the Asian Feminist Studio for Art and Research (AFSAR) platform.
